Workshops / Camera Club Events
I currently offer custom photography workshops that I can adjust based upon your skill. I can help you to improve your skills and capture great images. As I am based in Colorado, typical workshops can be held within a 2 hour radius from Denver. Further travel, and travel outside of Colorado is not a problem, though additional expenses may apply.
Workshops can be one-on-one training, or up to 5 students maximum if you would like to bring additional people. My goal for workshops is to provide a fun and enjoyable experience with photography that teaches you new skills or improves your existing skills.

Testimonials:
"I can't say enough great things about Andrew. I've accompanied him on a sunset landscape trip where he taught me a lot about how to get the image right in camera using various settings and filters. He also taught me about proper portraits and showed me in person how different focal lengths create different effects. Though I don't shoot landscape, the skills I learned on that outing, paired with what I learned while he taught me about portraits, I saved so much time and was able to create more of the images I had in mind straight away. He has a wealth of knowledge and is patient and excellent at explaining the way things work and why." -Nicole M.
"Andrew was great to work with and did such a great job helping me with my photography. I have been taking photos for a while but wanted to dive deeper into landscapes. Andrew helped me to see a few things I was doing wrong and I feel my photography has improved as a result of his teaching. He is easy to work with and will adjust to your skill level. I highly recommend him." -Mark T.
General Requirements:
Generally, workshops where you would like to spend time in the field taking photographs are conducted in various outdoor locations. These locations often require walking/hiking to reach. I will typically try to recommend locations that are reachable in 1-2 miles of hiking, but if you have a specific spot you want to photograph just let me know.
With that said, you should be in good enough shape that some light to strenuous hiking will not be an issue for you, or if so we will need a location that will work for you. Again, simply contact me and we can work everything out to plan a fun and enjoyable outing where you can both learn new skills and take some great photos.
Equipment Requirements:
While I don't have any strict requirements for the equipment that you use, having at least a DSLR (Digital SLR - Interchangeable Lens) / Mirrorless ILC (Interchangeable Lens Camera) of some iteration is ideal. Point & Shoot cameras typically do not have the level of adjustment or even manual settings which can be crucial for landscape photography. Regardless, I can still work with any type of camera as long as you understand the limitations of the platform. Here are some general recommendations on equipment which will help in taking landscape photos:
- DSLR/Mirrorless ILC with Manual operation.
- Sturdy Tripod - Preferably with a quick-release plate of some type that mounts to your camera.
- Shutter Release Cable - So you don't have to touch the camera to take a picture.
- Wide-Angle Lens - Somewhere around 16mm to 24mm on the wide end.
- Lens Filters - Neutral Density, Graduated Neutral Density, Circular Polarizer, etc.
If you're looking at the list and thinking hey I don't have all or any of this stuff, that's okay! I can work with what you have! I also have a filter system that will work with lenses that have a 77mm or 82mm front filter ring and I'll let you use it if you want. If your lens has a smaller filter ring, you could purchase a step-up ring at your option (they are not very expensive - around $10 or so) if you want the opportunity to try using filters before investing in a set.
Camera Clubs - Speaker
I have spoken at camera club meetings on several topics. If you are a member of a camera club and are interested in having me speak at your club, please use the Contact page and let me know. I do not charge for this at all, and only ask to be able to bring handouts for members and to speak briefly about my workshop offerings.
